Well, here's what you should know. I am teaching form 2. I have two classes- 2 jujur and 2 inovasi/ tabah. Jujur is a good class while inovasi is the total opposite. Here's a little something you need to know about the students. They come from two distinctive classes. One from very rich families, and two, from very poor families. The rich ones mostly occupy the good classes, while the poor ones conquer the bad classes. I am taking over Pn. Lim's classes. She has just been promoted as the extra-curriculum advisor.
My kids in jujur are like form 4 kids, most of them anyway. They are really the MTV generation kind of kids. They speak using all the "DUHs" and "Whatevers". I feel like i have stepped into the screen sometimes, like a part of the cast of "Mean girls", "Bring it on", and "A cinderella story". It's fun but to a certain degree, it's intimidating. However, i am glad to say that behind that mischief they have under their noses, they are pretty mature and polite. I guess their parents have taught them well. I really enjoy teaching that class. The students have that learning fire in their eyes which makes my efforts worth-while.

Two Ino on the other hand is...ermmm...how do i put this?? DIFFICULT!! There is only 19 of them, but for the past one week, i have only met 16 of them. Some really want to study, but some aren't interested at all. I mean who comes to school empty-bag, with no pencils and books?? Hello?? What's the point of coming into the class if they don't want to study?? What are their parents doing about it? What are the teachers doing about it? It's frustrating to teach students like that. Since i have to simply their tasks for them and print out handouts, they don't seem to appreciate it by throwing their handouts (which i have slaved over to make) on the floor. That pisses me off. I am mad, but i need to deal. Somebody out they give me suggestions...please. I have teachers telling me to ignore them and focus on those who wants to learn. I can't do that. I am not going to be one of those teachers. This is a challenge and i really wanna see them improve.
As for just beeing there for a week, i have decided not to teach...not yet anyway and definately not in schools. There are just so much work. after school especially. I so wanna persue my music stuff!!

You're totally right Adrian, I have teachers telling me that too. But I want to care because if not, who will? Why are they so MEAN!?? I admire you facing them with courage and a hope to change them. If they ever throw my worksheet on the ground which I painstakingly did, I'd shove it in their face and say "If you think you're so good and if you don't want to learn, please get out now!"
I think they need to know what you did and what you've been through to prepare the stuff you wanted them to learn. Hmmm, tried reasoning with them?
Don't give up, Ad! You can change them! :)
although i wud want to be able to cheer for u like meow-meow did. but i'm jus too tired & exasperated to do so....
sigh... i seriously wud rather die than to spent my life teaching at schools. well, at least for da time being tat is...
Tell them to paste it in their exercise book. Better, stick a small double-sided tape so they cant say, 'Ciku, takde gam'.
That's the best solution from Miss Hong
Mel- Thanks for the suggestion and that's what i did. I haven't a clue why they are so mean but everywhere you go there are mean people, so we best get used to it. I tried reasoning with them...we'll see how they turn out next week. I can change them...fingers crossed, but that might just be wishful thinking.
Derick- I know what you mean, but there's something you should know "If there is a will there is a way".I saw this pasted opposite where i sit in the staff room and it sort of gives me hope. Hope it does to you too=)
Feon- Ms.(with a zzz sound) Hong you are one hell of a practical sassy teacher in the making. Thanks!! But they don't even have books to begin with. So what do you reckon i should do?
